It germinates quickly. Also an annual plant, which the very first frost kills. You can prolong its use by periodically cutting 1/2 or 2/3 of its height off and not letting it flower. Then the basil branches out and continues to produce new fresh leaves. The soil in the pot must be fertile, and it should also be fertilized during the growing season so you can use it for as long as possible. Sowing in stages is also an option - in practice, as long as it is warm and watered, basil can be sown throughout the year - from spring to the middle of summer.
