Beer Bread with Cheddar and Monterey Jack

A bread-machine loaf enriched with beer and two cheeses, cheddar and Monterey Jack, where the beer aids the rise and texture.

Ingredients

300 mlbeer, at room temperature
113 gcheddar, grated or cut into cubes
113 gMonterey Jack, grated or cut into cubes
1 tbsp15 mlsugar
1.5 tsp7.5 mlsalt
3 cups720 mlflour
1 tbsp15 mlbutter, at room temperature, divided into 4 corners of the bread machine pan
1 tsp5 mlactive dry yeast or bread machine yeast

Instructions

You can use any cheese or beer variety and the beer actually helps with the rising and the overall texture and taste of the bread.

Directions:

  1. Heat the beer together with the cheeses on the stove or in the microwave just until they warm up. Stir to combine. The cheese is not expected to melt. Pour into the bread machine pan.
  2. Let cool to 43°C.
  3. Add the remaining ingredients in the order given in the recipe, unless the bread machine's manual recommends a different order.
  4. Select the Basic White program, 700 g, and medium crust.
  5. When done, remove the bread and let it cool on a rack.
