Blueberry Cinnamon Rolls

Cinnamon rolls filled with brown sugar, cinnamon and blueberries, finished with a vanilla glaze.

Ingredients

2 1/4 teaspoons11 mlactive dry yeast
1 cup240 mlwarm milk or water
1/4 cup60 mlgranulated sugar
1/4 cup60 mlunsalted butter, softened
1 teaspoon5 mlsalt
1large egg, room temperature
3 1/2 cups840 mlall-purpose flour, sifted
1/4 cup60 mlunsalted butter, softened (for filling)
1/2 cup120 mlbrown sugar, packed
1 1/2 teaspoons7.5 mlcinnamon
1 cup240 mlblueberries (fresh or frozen)
1 cup240 mlconfectioners' sugar
1 tablespoon15 mlmilk (or as needed)
1/2 teaspoon2.5 mlvanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a small bowl, combine the warm milk and sugar. Stir in the yeast and let it sit for 5 minutes until it becomes foamy. In a large mixing bowl, combine the yeast mixture, softened butter, salt, egg, and flour. Mix until it forms a soft dough. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5 minutes until it is smooth. Grease a bowl, place the dough inside, and cover it. Let it rise for 45 minutes.
  2. Prepare the Filling: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish. Roll out the dough into a rectangle shape. Spread the softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and blueberries over the dough. Roll it into a log and cut it into 10-12 pieces. Arrange the pieces in the greased baking dish.
  3. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, until they are golden brown.
  4. Prepare the Glaze: In a bowl, whisk together the confectioners' sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Drizzle this glaze over the rolls after they have rested for 10 minutes. Enjoy your delicious blueberry cinnamon rolls!
