
Carrot and Apple Waffles
Heart-shaped waffles with grated apple and carrot, served with vanilla-sweetened sour cream.
Ingredients
| 75 g | soft butter | |
| 2 tbsp | 30 ml | sugar |
| 2 tbsp | 30 ml | vanilla sugar |
| 2 | eggs | |
| 150 g | flour | |
| 1/2 tsp | 2.5 ml | baking powder |
| 100 ml | milk | |
| 1 | apple | |
| 1 | carrot | |
| to taste | fat for greasing the waffle iron | |
| 100 ml | sour cream |
Instructions
Serves 4.
- Beat the butter well with a mixer, adding both types of sugar. Add the eggs to the mixture one at a time, then the flour and the baking powder. Finally pour in the milk and stir until a homogeneous mixture is obtained.
- Peel the apple and the carrot, grate them coarsely and add them to the batter. Pour the finished mixture into a preheated waffle iron greased with oil. You get 4 golden-baked waffles.
- Whip the sour cream with a little vanilla sugar and serve alongside the ready waffles.

- spinach - 50 g frozen
- onion - 1 head (50 g)
- eggs - 1
- fresh milk - 1 cup (200 ml)
- water - 1/2 cup
- butter - 20 g

- parsley - fresh
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- flour - approx. 150 g (1 cup)
- butter - for spreading on the finished waffles
- cheese - for serving
Method:
- Let the spinach thaw slightly and cut it into pieces. Put it in a pot and add cleaned and chopped onion.
- Sprinkle salt to taste (about 1 tsp), curry to taste and chopped fresh parsley. Add butter (20 g) and pour in 1 cup of water. Turn on the stove.
- Let the ingredients and spices braise and when the liquid has boiled off, remove from the heat.
- To the mixture pour fresh milk (1 cup of 200 ml) and water (1/2 cup). Add a beaten egg (1), baking powder (1 tsp) and stir.
- You can blend it homogeneous with a hand blender. Gradually add flour, now stirring with a whisk. The batter should be a bit thicker than pancake batter.
- Bake the waffles in a well-heated waffle iron, greasing it with fat before baking if needed.

- 1 (20-ounce) package refrigerated hash brown potatoes
- 8 ounces black forest ham, diced
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 3 large eggs, beaten
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley leaves
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Directions:
- Preheat a waffle iron to medium-high heat. Lightly oil the top and bottom of the waffle iron or coat with nonstick spray.
- In a large bowl, combine hash brown potatoes, ham, cheese, eggs, garlic, parsley, thyme and paprika; season with salt and pepper, to taste.
- Pour a scant 1/2 cup of the potato mixture into the waffle iron, close gently and cook until golden brown and crisp, about 4-5 minutes.
- Serve immediately.
