Carrot Grissini
Homemade twisted breadsticks made with grated carrots and white wine ā a wonderful nibble with beer or to stave off a fierce appetite!
Ingredients
| 300 ml | oil |
| 300 ml | white wine (or sparkling wine) |
| 300 г | grated carrots |
| 1 кг | flour |
| 1 ŠæŠ°ŠŗŠµŃ | baking powder |
| 1 Ń.Š». | salt |
Instructions
- In a large bowl mix the oil, wine, carrots and salt. Knead the dough, gradually adding the flour sifted with the baking powder.
- Roll out a sheet about 5 mm thick. Cut it into strips of your desired length. Twist each strip and arrange it on a baking tray. (I lined the bottom of the tray with parchment paper, but on the second tray I did not and there was no problem removing the grissini.)
- Optionally sprinkle them with coarse sea salt. You can also brush them with egg yolk and sprinkle with red pepper (paprika) or cumin ā a matter of taste! Mine are plain.
- Bake at 180°C with the fan on until golden. If you want them crispier, you can let them brown further.
Note on the wine: at the time I didnāt have white wine, but I remembered I had a bottle of sparkling (one of the cheaper ones) left over from New Yearās, and used that.
