Christmas Lenten Baklava Rolls
Little lenten baklava rolls made from phyllo pastry, walnuts, sugar, lemon zest and cinnamon, baked until golden.
Ingredients
| 8 | phyllo (banitsa) sheets | |
| 1 tea cup | walnuts | |
| 150 g | margarine | |
| 1/2 tea cup | sugar | |
| 2 tbsp | 30 ml | lemon zest |
| 2 tsp | 10 ml | cinnamon |
Instructions
Spread the unrolled phyllo (banitsa) sheets with margarine (it needs to be at room temperature). Sprinkle each sheet with ground walnuts, sugar, grated lemon zest and cinnamon. Roll them up into a log, then shape into small round rolls. Place in a greased small pan and bake until golden. Once cooled, they can be dusted with powdered sugar if desired. Ideal for the holiday table!
