
Coffee Rubbed Homemade Burgers
Juicy Angus beef patties coated in a coffee dry rub, grilled and served with a cola-and-coffee BBQ sauce, bacon and lettuce.

Ingredients
| 1½ Tbsp | 23 ml | ground coffee |
| 2 lbs | 905 g | Angus ground beef 85/15 |
| 2 Tbsp | 30 ml | heavy cream |
| 1 tsp | 5 ml | kosher salt |
| ½ tsp | 2.5 ml | black pepper |

| 8 slices | cooked bacon slices | |
| 2 Tbsp | 30 ml | butter |
| ½ | yellow onion | |
| 3 cloves | garlic | |
| ½ cup | 120 ml | ketchup |
| 1½ Tbsp | 23 ml | tomato paste |
| 6 oz | 170 g | Dr Pepper |
| ¼ cup | 60 ml | apple cider vinegar |
| 2½ Tbsp | 38 ml | Worcestershire sauce |
| ¼ cup | 60 ml | brown sugar |
| 1 tsp | 5 ml | ancho chile powder |
| 3 Tbsp | 45 ml | brewed coffee |
Instructions
- Mix all dry rub ingredients in a small bowl; set aside.
- Melt butter over medium heat, sauté onion and garlic 6-8 minutes until soft. Add remaining sauce ingredients, bring to a low boil, then simmer 20 minutes until thickened. Puree in a blender and cool.
- Mix beef, cream, salt and pepper; divide into 6 patties (~⅓ lb each) and press a divot in the centre of each.
- Rub coffee seasoning over both sides. Preheat grill to medium-high, lightly oil the grates and grill about 5 minutes per side to desired doneness; toast the buns on the grill.
- Spread BBQ sauce on both buns, layer lettuce, patty, more sauce and bacon; top with the bun.
