Copycat Texas Roadhouse Steak Rub
A quick copycat dry rub of salt, brown sugar and spices that tenderises and seasons steaks before grilling.
Ingredients
| 2 tsp | 10 ml | coarse kosher salt |
| 2 tsp | 10 ml | brown sugar |
| 1/4 tsp | 1.3 ml | cornstarch |
| 1/2 tsp | 2.5 ml | garlic powder |
| 1/4 tsp | 1.3 ml | onion powder |
| 1/4 tsp | 1.3 ml | turmeric |
| 1/2 tsp | 2.5 ml | paprika |
| 1/2 tsp | 2.5 ml | chili powder |
| 1 tsp | 5 ml | black pepper |
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a quart-sized Ziploc bag and seal it tightly. Shake to thoroughly combine.
- Generously cover each side of the steak with the seasoning and let it rest for about 40 minutes. This lets the salt penetrate the surface and break down the muscle fibers for more tender meat.
- Once the grill is nice and hot, place the steak(s) on and cook 4-5 minutes, until browned and slightly charred. Flip and cook for the following additional time: 5 minutes for medium-rare, 7 minutes for medium, 10 minutes for well done.
Notes: Season to taste with salt — you can always add more if needed.
