Dunkin' Donuts Glazed Donuts Recipe (Copycat)
Fluffy yeast-raised doughnuts fried until golden and dipped in a sweet vanilla glaze, just like the coffee-shop classic.
Ingredients
| 2 tbsp | 30 ml | yeast |
| 1 cup | 240 ml | warm water |
| ½ cup | 120 ml | sugar |
| ½ tsp | 2.5 ml | salt |
| 1 stick | butter, melted | |
| ½ cup | 120 ml | warm milk |
| 2 | eggs | |
| 2 | egg yolks | |
| 4½ cups | 1.1 l | all-purpose flour |
| 3 cups | 720 ml | powdered sugar (glaze) |
| ½ cup | 120 ml | water (glaze) |
| ¼ tsp | 1.3 ml | vanilla sugar/vanillin (glaze) |
Instructions
- In the bowl of a stand mixer, mix the warm water, yeast and 1 teaspoon of the sugar together and let poof for 5 minutes.
- Whisk in the remaining sugar, salt, warm milk, butter, eggs and egg yolks. Add the flour and mix on low speed until the dough comes together, then knead for 5 minutes. The dough should be tacky. Place in an oiled bowl and let rise 1 hour in a warm place.
- Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and roll out to a ½-inch thickness (about a 17-inch oval).
- Cut out donuts with a 3.5-inch donut cutter. Re-roll scraps and keep cutting. Let the donuts rise another 20–30 minutes.
- Heat 2–3 cups of oil in a medium frying pan over medium-low heat. Fry the donuts 3–4 at a time until lightly golden on each side, then transfer to paper towels. Use a mild frying oil such as shortening, soybean or canola.
- Combine the glaze ingredients and dip the warm donuts in the glaze. Serve.
