Instructions

How do you make tiger bread? Easy! Really very easy! The appetizing tiger bread is truly very easy to prepare and there is probably no home-bread lover who hasn't already tried the recipe for Dutch tiger bread. But if you are among those who don't make bread every day, then these charming rolls are new to you and are a wonderful idea for making homemade bread. You can make the tiger bread recipe by shaping small rolls, but from the tiger bread dough you can also make one or two larger loaves.

  1. The first step of the tiger rolls recipe is preparing the yeast for the dough. Warm the fresh milk, being careful that it is not boiling, but warm. Pour it into a bowl and add one tablespoon of flour, the sugar, the salt and the yeast and stir. Cover the bowl with a cloth and set aside so the yeast can activate, meanwhile sifting the remaining flour. Once the yeast has swelled, add the oil to the mixture, and after it, little by little, while stirring continuously at first with a wooden spoon and later with your hands, add flour and knead until you obtain a smooth dough. Grease a bowl and place the tiger rolls dough in it, cover with a cloth and leave to rise for about an hour or a little more, until it doubles in volume.
  2. Once the dough has risen, knead it once more, then with greased hands shape the tiger rolls to your desired size. Place the shaped rolls in a tray lined with baking paper. Also prepare the mixture for the crispy crust of the tiger rolls by mixing all the ingredients in a cup - the warm water, the rice flour, the sugar, the salt, the fat and the yeast, and stirring well. Leave the mixture to swell for about 10-12 minutes. Then coat the rolls very thickly with the risen rice-flour mixture.
  3. Leave the shaped and coated tiger rolls to rise. You can also do this in the oven, by turning it on to 50 degrees, so they will rise in 15-20 minutes. Once the tiger rolls have risen, bake at 200 degrees; if the rolls are small, like these in the photos, they bake in about 20 minutes, and if you make a large tiger bread, the baking time is about 35 minutes. If your tiger rolls have taken on an appetizing golden color, they are ready.
