Garlic Bread Pizza Casserole

A cheesy pizza-inspired casserole topped with pepperoni and garlic-butter dough balls.

Ingredients

1/4 cup60 mlunsalted butter, melted
3 clovesgarlic, minced
1 tablespoon15 mlfreshly chopped parsley or basil
4 cups960 mlshredded mozzarella, divided
16 ounces455 gcream cheese, softened
1/2 cup120 mlgrated Parmesan, divided
1 tablespoon15 mlItalian seasoning
3/4 teaspoon3.8 mlcrushed red pepper flakes
1/2 teaspoon2.5 mlfreshly ground black pepper
3/4 cup180 mlpizza sauce
1 packagemedium-size pepperoni slices (not the minis)
2 packages (14.1 ounces each)premade pizza dough

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 350°F and spray a 9x13-inch casserole dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, garlic and parsley. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, beat together 2 cups mozzarella, cream cheese, 1/3 cup Parmesan, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes and black pepper.
  4. Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared 9x13-inch dish.
  5. Spread pizza sauce evenly over the cheese mixture.
  6. Sprinkle with the remaining 2 cups mozzarella.
  7. Top with pepperoni.
  8. Divide the dough into the same number of sections as the number of pepperoni slices used. Roll the dough sections into balls and place each on each slice of pepperoni.
  9. Brush each ball of dough with the butter/garlic mixture.
  10. Sprinkle with the remaining Parmesan cheese.
  11. Bake at 350°F, 35-45 minutes, or until the pizza dough is golden brown, cooked through and the pizza dip is bubbly.
  12. Let cool 10-15 minutes before serving.
