A simple Japanese condiment: black sesame seeds ground with honey into a fragrant paste, used in Japanese sweets and dishes. Recipe by Namiko Chen of Just One Cookbook.
⏱️ Prep: 5 min🍽️ Makes 1
Ingredients
| 1 Tbsp | 15 ml | black sesame seeds (roasted/toasted) |
| 1 Tbsp | 15 ml | honey |
Instructions
- Gather all the ingredients (ratio 1:1 sesame to honey). 2. Grind the black sesame seeds with a mortar and pestle or in a food processor. It takes some time for the seeds to secrete oil, but be patient. 3. When the seeds are finely ground and become moist from the natural sesame oil, add the honey and mix together.
Notes: If you want to use the black sesame paste for savory dishes, add a little sesame oil instead of honey.
