Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Thick, bakery-style chocolate chip cookies that stay soft and chewy in the center.

Ingredients

2 cups480 mlflour
½ teaspoon2.5 mlbaking soda
¾ cup180 mlwhite sugar
¾ cup180 mlbrown sugar
¾ cup180 mlmelted butter
1egg
1egg yolk
1 tablespoon15 mlvanilla extract
1 bagsemisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Sift together the flour and baking soda in a mixing bowl; set aside.
  3. Cream together the butter and sugars in a stand mixer.
  4. Add the egg, yolk, and vanilla and mix until light and blended.
  5. Add the dry ingredients a little at a time until fully combined.
  6. Lastly, fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Refrigerate the dough 10–15 minutes to help it firm up.
  8. Scoop ¼-cup portions (an ice cream scoop keeps them uniform) onto a greased or lined baking sheet, leaving 2 inches between each cookie.
  9. Bake 15–16 minutes at 350°F.
