Mary's Sugar Cookies
From Mary Herman...made with confectioners' sugar.
Ingredients
| 1.5 cups | 360 ml | sifted confectioners' sugar |
| 0.5 tsp. | 2.5 ml | almond flavoring |
| 1 cup | 240 ml | butter or margarine |
| 2.5 cups | 600 ml | Gold Medal Flour |
| 1 | egg | |
| 1 tsp. | 5 ml | soda |
| 1 tsp. | 5 ml | vanilla |
| 1 tsp. | 5 ml | cream of tartar |
Instructions
Mix sugar and butter. Add egg and flavorings; mix thoroughly. Measure flour by dipping method (p. 5) or by sifting. Stir dry ingredients together and blend in. Refrigerate 2 to 3 hr. Heat oven to 375° (quick mod.). Divide dough in half and roll 3/16″ thick on lightly floured pastry cloth. Cut with cooky cutter; sprinkle with sugar. Place on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake 7 to 8 min., or until delicately golden. Makes 5 doz. 2 to 2½″ cookies.
Note: If you use Gold Medal Self-Rising Flour, omit soda and cream of tartar.
