Dough-Ball Bread (Pitka na topcheta)
A soft pull-apart bread of many small dough balls dipped in melted butter. "And also to indulge in kneading, which I hadn't tried in nearly two and a half months :) :) ."
Ingredients
| 200 г | warm fresh milk |
| 20 г | fresh yeast |
| 2 равни супени лъжици | sugar |
| 1 равна супена лъжица | salt |
| 1 бр. | egg and 1 yolk (both for the dough) |
| 90 г | oil |
| 500 г | flour |
| 50-60 г | melted butter |
Instructions
- Dissolve the yeast with half of the sugar in the warm fresh milk and leave briefly to activate.
- Add the remaining ingredients and the flour in parts, stirring energetically, then knead to a soft dough. Cover and leave in a warm place to rise until doubled.
- Divide the risen dough into numerous small balls, dip them in the melted butter and arrange them in a suitable baking tin. Pour / brush the remaining butter over the top and leave the loaf to rise again.
- Bake in an unheated (cold) oven at 170–190 °C until done.
A layered little bread by the same dough recipe: Roll the risen dough into a not-too-thin rectangular sheet. Brush with melted butter, then cut into square pieces, which are stood upright, one next to another, in a suitable tin. Leave to rise and bake, again in an unheated oven at 170–190 °C.
