Smoked Barbecue Chicken Legs – On the Grill

Melt-in-your-mouth chicken legs slow-smoked on a gas grill with wood chips, dry-rubbed and finished with a sticky wet barbecue sauce.

Ingredients

6 to 12chicken legs
dry BBQ rub
salt
pepper
wet BBQ sauce
smoke wood chips
1foil pan
aluminium foil

Instructions

  1. Soak the wood chips in water for one hour prior to grilling.
  2. Pat the chicken drumsticks dry with a paper towel, then coat all over with the dry BBQ rub, salt and pepper.
  3. Turn all the burners of your grill on high and place your foil pan with the soaked wood chips over the flame to start smoking.
  4. Next, add the chicken to the grill, making sure it is not over direct heat (set up for indirect smoking).
  5. Smoke/grill the chicken legs for 1 1/2 hours.
  6. Finally, add the wet BBQ sauce during the last 15 minutes of cooking.
  7. Allow the chicken to rest for 15 minutes before serving.
