Smoking Violets Cocktail
A romantic violet-hued cocktail of vodka, elderflower and violet liqueurs topped with pink cava and sealed under a cloud of aromatic smoke.
Ingredients
| 1 shot | vodka | |
| 2 shots | elderflower liqueur | |
| 1 shot | violet liqueur | |
| 2 tbsp | 30 ml | violet liqueur (for the glasses) |
| — | pink cava or prosecco | |
| — | fresh edible violet flowers |
Instructions
- In a shaker, mix the vodka, elderflower liqueur and 1 shot of violet liqueur and shake well with ice.
- Into 2 glasses with lids (or standard tumblers with plates to seal in the smoke, or old jars with lids), add some ice, then drizzle 1 tablespoon of violet liqueur into each glass.
- Share the contents of the shaker between the glasses, then top slowly with the fizz — you want the bottom of the drink darker than the top — leaving a couple of inches at the top for the smoke.
- If you have not used a smoking gun before, do a test cocktail first, as handling the gun can be a little tricky until you get the hang of it.
- Fire up the smoking gun and pipe smoke into the top of the glass, holding the lid or plate near the nozzle to trap as much smoke as possible inside. Hold for about 10 seconds, then clamp the lid shut.
- Let the flavours mingle for a few minutes before drinking. For a smokier hit, repeat the smoking once more. Garnish with edible violet flowers.
