| — | sesame, for sprinkling |
Instructions
I used sorrel, but you can also use spinach or any other greens. I pureed it. I drained the sun-dried tomatoes and also pureed them. I boiled the carrot and pureed it. Instead of carrot you can use pumpkin.
I started mixing the flour with the rest of the ingredients and when the dough became firm enough to begin kneading by hand, I divided it into three. The pureed sorrel, which was about 100 g, is added to one third and kneaded, adding flour until ready. You can also add a green herb — spearmint for example, or parsley.
I did the same with the sun-dried tomatoes (about 100 g), but also added red paprika for color and aroma. The cheap version of this is to replace the tomatoes with lyutenitsa (roasted pepper relish).
To the carrot (1 piece) I added turmeric for a brighter yellow color and cumin for aroma. Here pumpkin would probably turn out even nicer.
I kneaded the balls, left them to rise. I rolled them out long and braided them like a kozunak so they interweave. I left it to rise again in the oven on setting 1, covered so it doesn't dry out. Finally I brushed with egg yolk and sprinkled with poppy seeds and sesame.
That's it. :)
