Bean Stew (Bob Yahniya) in the Instant Pot

A classic Bulgarian bean stew (bob yahniya) adapted for the Instant Pot, shared as a cooking-group reply. The seasonings come from the supichka.com recipe (No. 476, боб-яхния-в-гювеч), used in a double dose.

🍳 Cook: 30 min

Ingredients

0.5 kgdried beans
onion
carrots
1jar of chopped tomatoes
seasonings (double dose, from the supichka recipe)
2 tbsp30 mlflour
water

Instructions

  1. Soak the beans (0.5 kg) for 4 hours, rinse and put them in the pot with hot water from the kettle (one finger of water above the beans once they are covered); pressure cook for 4 minutes.
  2. Take them out, pour off the water, rinse and let drain in a colander.
  3. Meanwhile, saute the onion for 6 minutes and the carrots for 3 minutes, then add a jar of chopped tomatoes to warm through for the remaining time, and add the seasonings from the supichka recipe, using a double dose of everything (https://www.supichka.com/рецепта/476/боб-яхния-в-гювеч).
  4. Add water again to cover, plus 1-2 fingers above. Set the 'beans' program for 30 minutes.
  5. Let the pressure release on its own (naturally), since there is no rush.
  6. Mix 2 tablespoons of flour into a little water and add 200 ml of the liquid from the beans, stir, and pour everything back in with the beans. Saute for 2 minutes and voila :)
