Cherries in Cognac

Ingredients

250 gcherries (or sour cherries)
250 gsugar
100 mlwater
1vanilla pod (optional)
1cinnamon stick
5cloves
200 mlcognac

Instructions

  1. Wash the cherries and remove the stems, being careful not to damage the fruit, and place them in a glass jar.
  2. Bring the water and sugar to a boil, add the spices, skim off the foam and leave to cool completely.
  3. Pour the cognac into the sugar syrup, remove the spices and pour the resulting mixture over the cherries in the jar.
  4. Leave to stand for 3 months in a light place, but not in direct sunlight.
  • The drunken cherries are suitable for making candies, cakes, desserts and more.
  • The resulting liqueur is very drinkable, suitable for all kinds of recipes.
