
Gyudon
A popular rice dish in Japan. Essentially, it is simmered beef served on steamed rice. It's another Japanese comfort food. It's easy to prepare and includes healthy ingredients like rice, and onion or beef. If you think you won't have time to prepare a supper dish, use this recipe to make it happen.

Ingredients
| 1 pound | 455 g | beef loin, sliced thinly, cut into 2-inch lengths |
| 4 cups | 960 ml | Japanese rice, steamed |
| 1 1/3 cup | 320 ml | dashi soup |
| 1 | medium onion, thinly sliced | |
| 3 tbsp | 45 ml | mirin |
| 5 tbsp | 75 ml | soy sauce |
| 1 tsp | 5 ml | sake |
| 2 tbsp | 30 ml | granulated sugar |
Instructions
- Cut onion into slices and meat into small sized pieces.
- Put sake, mirin, sugar, soy sauce and dashi in a pan. Bring it to a boil over medium heat.
- Add the onion slices. Simmer until they are soft, or for several minutes.
- Add the beef and simmer for several minutes more.
- Serve steamed rice into separate bowls. Put the simmered beef mixture on top.
