Marinated Garlic
Pickled garlic cloves in a sweet-and-sour bay-scented marinade, jarred and sealed. Dated Wednesday, 11 November 2020, 8:36.
Ingredients
| 500 g | Garlic (I used 500 g) |
| 1 litre | Water (for the marinade) |
| 50 g | Sugar |
| 50 g | Salt |
| 2 | Bay leaves |
| 140 ml | 6% vinegar |
Instructions
- Break the heads of garlic into individual cloves and pour boiling water over them for one minute. Then drain through a colander and place them in a bowl of cold water with ice cubes for one minute. Drain and put into dry jars.
- Meanwhile, put the water for the marinade in a small pot on the stove to boil. Add the sugar and salt and stir until dissolved. Add the bay leaves. When it comes to a strong boil, remove the pot from the heat and add the vinegar.
- Stir and immediately pour into the jars over the garlic, right to the top — fill to the rim! Close the lids and turn the jars upside down. Leave to cool covered with a cloth.
Note: I had marinade left over, so I filled a small jar with hot peppers too — so the marinade wouldn't go to waste!
