Stirred Dish with Nettle and Prunes

Timing icons on the page: 30 min, 2 portions, difficulty 1/5. A century ago in the Central Balkan they made a porridge only from nettle, blanching it and mashing it with a 'drokulki' — a special wooden tool with short branches at the lower end. They seasoned the stirred nettle with walnuts and salt. Because of the little they had at their disposal, our grandmothers and grandfathers often invented culinary masterpieces from three ingredients.

⏱️ Prep: 30 min

Ingredients

3red peppers
2 headsonions
20 gtomato paste
50 gbutter
2 clovesgarlic
100 gnettle
100 gdried prunes
3eggs
salt and black pepper

Instructions

  1. Soak the dried prunes in water so they soften. Cut the vegetables into cubes, the nettle finely, and grate the garlic.
  2. Heat the butter and in it sweat the onion, garlic and peppers. Add the tomato paste and arrange the prunes. Stir, then add the nettle, dried and chopped beforehand. Beat the eggs, pour them over the rest of the mixture, stir, and season with salt and black pepper.
