Takoyaki
Hey there, my bestie! Let's get started on making some delicious takoyaki!
Ingredients
| 1 1/2 cups | 360 ml | All-purpose flour |
| 2 tsp | 10 ml | Baking powder |
| 1/2 tsp | 2.5 ml | Salt |
| 2 | Eggs | |
| 1/4 cup | 60 ml | Chopped green onions |
| 1/4 cup | 60 ml | Chopped cooked octopus |
| — | Bonito flakes | |
| — | Takoyaki sauce | |
| 2 cups | 480 ml | Dashi stock |
Instructions
- First things first, let's whisk together the flour, dashi broth, and eggs until it's nice and smooth.
- Now we need to heat up our takoyaki pan and brush the molds with some veggie oil. Pour the batter into each mold, filling them up about 2/3 of the way full. Don't forget to add the diced octopus, green onion, pickled ginger, and tempura scraps to each mold! Yum!
- As the takoyaki cooks, use a skewer or takoyaki pick to rotate the balls until they're golden brown and crispy on the outside and cooked all the way through on the inside.
- And voila! Your takoyaki is ready to serve hot and topped with your favorite sauce, whether it be takoyaki sauce, mayo, or bonito flakes. Time to dig in and enjoy the taste explosion!
Tip: Oh, and one more thing, my friend! If you're having trouble finding a takoyaki pan, don't sweat it! They might be a bit tricky to find outside of Japan. But don't worry, you can always use a muffin tin as a substitute. It won't be the same, but it'll do the trick. So go ahead and give it a shot, and let me know how it turns out. Happy cooking!
