Toor Dal - Red Lentil Soup
Ingredients
| 1 cup | 240 ml | red lentils |
| 3 cup | 720 ml | water |
| 1 | onion | |
| 3 | garlic cloves | |
| 1 | potato | |
| 1 tsp | 5 ml | turmeric |
| 1 tbsp | 15 ml | sour cream |
| 2 tbsp | 30 ml | cooking oil |

Instructions
Recipe:
Clean the lentils (1 cup) and rinse in several changes of water.
Grate the onion (1) and the potato (1) on a fine grater.
Peel the garlic (3 cloves), chop finely and crush with salt.
Cover the lentils, onion and potato with the water (3 cups), season with salt and boil until done. The dal is ready when the lentil grains are soft enough to be rubbed apart with the fingers.
Pass the soup through a sieve to obtain a smooth, uniform mixture.
In another pot, fry the spices in heated oil - turmeric and garlic (3 cloves). Add the sour cream to them and stir. Carefully pour this mixture into the soup while stirring continuously.
Serve the soup hot with Indian bread.
